Purpose Of ASK Foundation
Nepal is a land-locked country faced with many geographical and economical challenges. More than half the population lives under the poverty line and literacy rate is one of the lowest in the world. Due to lack of health education and access to healthcare, Nepal also suffers from poor health care indices like high maternal and neonatal mortality rates. Recent earthquake in Nepal has further deteriorated the socioeconomic conditions of many people living in the affected areas of Nepal, not to mention the loss of lives and property. ASK intends to provide holistic support to the poor and needy population in Nepal using information technology, social media, logistic supply along with collaboration and participation of the local communities to eventually empower such communities to self-sustain. ASK believes in utilization of local manpower and resources.
Following are the objectives of ASK:
To uplift socioeconomic, education, agriculture and health status of underprivileged population in rural and urban Nepal.
ASK wants to support anybody in Nepal who needs help at difficult times, including times of natural disaster, political insurgency, economic crisis, etc. Such support may include provision of logistic supplies, rebuilding housing and other infrastructures in the affected community, uplifting health and sanitation, provision of food and clean water supply, fulfillment of the healthcare needs in the affected area, etc. Prior to construction of any permanent structure, ASK will obtain necessary permission from local and central government authorities/officials.
To improvise, supplement and provide specialist medical care in Nepal using Telemedicine, Teleconferencing, etc. ASK will help facilitate exchange of specialists between Nepal and other countries for purposes of medical training as well as specialized health care delivery. To provide free health care for the needy people, health camps will be arranged in rural parts of Nepal. If necessary, ASK will work with local healthcare providers/ hospitals to provide medical care to patients with financial constraints. Necessary vocational training will be provided to local healthcare workers as felt necessary.
To help improve education and academic activities for students in Nepal. Such programs may include scholarship programs to school or college going students including tuition and tele-education programs. ASK will support establishment of libraries in rural areas and arrange programs for overall physical and mental development of students. Such programs may include various extracurricular activities for students.
To help growth of agriculture and livestock in Nepal by appropriate teaching and training of farmers; introducing them to new technology and to maximize utilization of their available resources. ASK will promote and preserve Non-GMO farming and saving Non-GMO seeds.
To promote and improve public health awareness in Nepal by arranging various educational and training programs. To help introduce new technologies for hygiene and sanitation in the needy areas of Nepal. Such projects may include training and involvement in latrine construction, health education, etc. To improve health and nutrition of mothers and children through health education, training programs, logistic supply, etc. Projects to sanitize water sources and rivers will be encouraged and needy societies will be trained in acquiring and preserving safe water supply.
To help establish sustainable energy in Nepal through utilization of local resources. To promote recycling, reforestation and encourage eco-friendly technology and equipments through educational training programs.
Based on priority of the local community, ASK will support research activities, building infrastructure, creating employment opportunities, improving transportation and tourism activities in Nepal.
To improve Information technology and its education in rural parts of Nepal.
To make and promote educational videos and multimedia in the internet, social media, etc. Such videos may include advertisements, documentaries, etc.
